Already during the late eighties and beginning of the nineties one of the most famous trend and future scientists of the United States, Faith Popcorn, predicted society trends of the western world based on extensive studies. The report became a bestseller under the name “The Popcorn Report” and has been published again and again.
In this report Faith Popcorn is pointing out two society developments. The first one is called “cocooning”: people are withdrawing themselves into privacy and known surroundings and they are spinning themselves into a cocoon more and more. At home it is warm and save, the world outside is often perceived as frightening, brutal and confusing (mass media). As a consequence people prefer to receive services and products at home, no matter whether they are home service, pizza delivery, tele-shopping or consulting.
As a further trend Popcorn named “clanning”: The necessity of people coming together in groups and tightening social contacts is growing as a result of the work environment and outside world that is becoming more disobliging and cold.
According to Faith Popcorn it is one of the basic needs in life to be satisfied with oneself and others. A survey found out that, regrettably, reality is different and in fact most people are dissatisfied with their lives. In spite of relative financial wealth, poverty of the soul is increasing. To feel unfulfilled is one of the social trends of our time.
According to an internet survey Monster, the motivation of working people in Germany is down to zero. Only 5 % are satisfied with their place of work and feel good, only 10 % don’t see any reason to change their job. The remaining majority is thinking about it and is looking for alternatives”.
Many people would like to change their job in order to have a job with more freedom and less stress! Of course, money is useful and good, but isn’t the general feeling of happiness and satisfaction, self responsibility and sense of what we are doing at least as important?
Only in few professions this feeling of inner satisfaction and vocation is reached in a way like in network activity! In a scientific study “Network Marketing in Germany 2005” the result shows an especially high satisfaction of networkers:
Three quarters! of all networkers are either satisfied with what they are doing, or very satisfied. An extensive evaluation of this study is published in “Network - Beruf und Berufung” by professor Michael Zacharias.
